Interview

CoaB.com - Regina, thanks for making time for us today!

RA - Well, thanks for stopping by, it's great to chat with you.

CoaB.com - So Regina, how long have you been performing?

RA - Oh my - it's been my entire life. From singing in the playground in third grade, to the school choir with numerous solo performing roles, to singing for cash at the local pub. It was actually in one of the pubs that a band actually hired me to sing for them - classic rock genre, and it's gone on from there.

CoaB.com - Which musician had the most influence on you?

RA - Joni Mitchell. She taught me the range, so for the cost of an album, I had my own coach. Besides her, Kris Kristofferson and John Prine.

CoaB.com - So, how long have you been playing and performing in the Rehoboth area?

RA - Since 1992. I came for a vacation and went into the Frog Pond for a drink and a local invited me to play! I played and sang and the owner immediately booked me. Within a couple of weeks I was booked six nights a week!

CoaB.com - Wow - that's great!

RA - Thank you!

CoaB.com - You are one of the most respected musicians in the area. We have noticed that you are extremely supportive of other musicians and artisits in the area. Why is that?

RA - I'm a good promoter, so I decided to help others that wanted to know how to book and how to get press kits. I feel that whatever community you live in, you have a responsibility to reach out to others.

CoaB.com - What advice would you give performers who are just starting out?

RA - Pick a place you want to play and be consistent. That way, you'll start to build up a local support base and then you can go from there. Steady gigs force you to learn more material and give you a schedule. You need to take it seriously, it's not just going out to drink and make friends.

CoaB.com - There are some people that realy love to perform, but have limited talent. What is your advice to those people?

RA - There are people who are naturally accomplished, but there are others who have the ability to entertain crowds and make them happy. People can get better through practice and lessons. Also don't let others deter you from reaching your goal. If you are not paying for their advice - don't take it!!!

CoaB.com - Thank you once again for your time, it's been really great talking with you.

RA - You're welcome!
